Wholphin Summer Screenings

May 4th, 2009

Wholphin will be hosting screenings up and down the West Coast this summer, kicking off at the Silent Movie Theatre in LA on Monday, May 18th to celebrate the release of Wholphin No 8. The screening will include James Franco meticulously exploring the outer reaches of his psyche while trashing a bedroom, Lauren Greenfield’s deeply disturbing, hilarious, and timely documentary, kids + money, this year’s Sundance Short Award winner, the touching Short Term 12, Patrick Marber, Anthony Minghella and Sam Taylor-Wood’s Buzzcocks-inspired, Love You More and Carlos D. from Interpol’s surrealist dreamscape My Friends Told Me About You

From LA, we’ll bring the show back up to San Francisco where we’ll be hosting an Animation spotlight at ATA on Friday, May 29th. The screening will include Dominic Bisignano’s very personal and hilarious account of germaphobia, hypochondria and his elementary school cafeteria in From Burger It Came, Wholphin favorite Carson Mell’s Chonto, Academy Award-recognized shorts MORE and Madame Tutli Putli, Arthur Metcalf’s Fantaisie in Bubblewrap and more.

Then on Monday, June 8th, Wholphin will take part in the first of “the Monthly Rumpus” at the Make Out Room in San Francisco. The event will be hosted by Rumpus editor, Stephen Elliott, and will include readings by Peter Orner and Andrew Sean Greer, music by The Yellow Dress, comedy by Will Durst and a special presentation by Wholphin. One place or another, we hope to see you out there.
