Wholphin Decries Alphabeticism, Recommends The Scene Unseen Podcast
We’ve just learned that DVD distribution mimics the same alphabetically-discriminating practices employed by my first grade teacher, Miss Cobb. She would always send the A-through-F’s to lunch first, which meant they’d finish their soggy burgers first and get out to recess before the rest of us. This enabled them to claim the few primo, unrusted swings for themselves. Every day Matt Walsh and Tammy Ziegler would be left with, what, those broken spring-mounted horses? The disgusting sand box? Unfair, man. So, Wholphin #4 has shipped, and subscribers with last names beginning with the letter “A” living on the East coast should have their copies in a day or two. All Zimmermans living on the West coast will be getting theirs sometime in the next week or so.
To avoid reliving childhood memories of Miss Cobb and others like her, I recommend driving out into the desert and listening to the Scene Unseen podcast beneath the stars. Those guys have some astoundingly great interviews with the likes of David Lynch and Crispin Glover. URL: www.sceneunseenpodast.com
Doc-o Promo For My New Favorite Yobbo*
Saw an amazing film in Perth last week made by a fascinating Aussie director, Kim Farrant. Besides being the daughter Primal Scream therapist and cellular consciousness pioneer Graham Farrant, Kim is a fellow cult enthusiast and has made an emotional, lovingly soul-impaling doc-o about, how can I say it, the various psycho-physio-sexual barriers that prevent people from accepting love. It’s called “Naked On The Inside” and at the Revelation Film Festival screening there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It premiers August 7th on Showtime at 10pm ET. Seriously, this film will move you like a Reverend Al Green Sunday sermon.
Here’s the website: http://www.magicreal.com.au/nakedontheinside/
*Confused by the heading? A “doc-o” is what they call documentaries in Australia and I applaud them for the streamline innovation. A “Yobbo” is apparently the Australian version of a WWF Fan and I used it here only because I am a total Fezzik.**
**Fezzik is the rhyme-addicted giant in Princess Bride and you should be deeply ashamed of yourself if you didn’t know that.
Zaky
Today a nice guy named Ben wrote asking if we’d been able to track down any of Saad Khalifa’s comedy news show about the occupation of Iraq, as told in flashback, from the year 2017. We unfortunately haven’t, but are trying. He also sent us this link to Zaky:
http://www.pregnancystore.com/zaky.htm

He said it was a short film waiting to happen. We cried for most of the day, for obvious reasons, but then agreed we should put it out there to see if, after this whole heated giraffe competition dies down a little, anyone might want to make a short film involving a Zaky. I half-hope half-dread the possibility of seeing a documentary on the geniuses who invented it.
Wholphin Film, “The Contest,” A Failure!
FAILURE WONDERFUL TERRIBLE RIDICULOUS
A presentation of video and performance-based artwork by:
My Barbarian
Sam Green
Julie Lequin
Emily Roysdon
Wholphin (Brent Hoff)
Organized by Nicole Antebi, Robby Herbst, and Irene Tsatsos
Opening March 10, 6-10pm, UCLA
Park Projects is pleased to present a group exhibition that explores the positive aspects of failure. “Failure Ridiculous Terrible Wonderful” features works that can be characterized as privileging a heartfelt appreciation of the effort expended to realize a goal, even if the goal itself remains elusive or even unattainable, rather than the goal itself.
Like the 1970s New Games phenomenon, it celebrates effort over effect, engagement over outcome.
“Failure Ridiculous Terrible Wonderful” is being mounted in conjunction with the book Failure! Experiments in Aesthetic and Social Practices published by the Journal of Aesthetics and Protest Press.
